History comes alive through the characters and their stories.
"The echoes of WWII remind us how easily humanity can slip into chaos when we fail to address the root causes of conflict and the vital importance of learning from history to build a better future."
- Donald de Brier
A cast of fictional characters and noteworthy historical figures navigate the early years of World War II in London as an international coalition rallies around Great Britain and begins to pull together to defeat the Axis Powers. Robert Johnston, a New York lawyer at the Office of Strategic Services, and Sarah Leach, a Royal Navy lieutenant with MI6, code name “Delilah,” find themselves in the same intelligence arena. Tracking a German double agent, RAF Bomber Command missions, French Resistance fighters, as well as each other, they become a formidable team. They also rescue a German Jewish refugee named Hannah, whose past is catching up with her. Robert, separated from his wife, and Sarah, alone in London, quickly fall for each other over bottles of wine at the Old Bell Tavern.
London 1943. The streets teem with refugees and soldiers while double agents circulate among them. Lt. Sarah Leach and Robert Johnston trade secrets and sex while fighting for the Allied war effort. Sarah drops in and out of Occupied France while Robert covers secret high-level meetings. They’re tracking the German resistance among high-ranking military officers, while gathering intel for the D-Day invasion and protecting their friend Hannah from a mysterious stalker. They both find themselves in harm’s way and Robert must rescue Sarah from France. But the greatest test comes when Sarah’s long-time beau returns to London wounded and depressed. Sarah and Robert’s relationship takes a sudden turn and neither are sure they will recover.
